The Tesla Model Y is here in Malaysia officially, and we cannot get enough of it. The super good-looking car, its advanced technology, and, of course, the fully electric car.
On July 20, 2023, Tesla made its official debut in Malaysia. Initially, they introduced the Tesla Model Y as their first offering in the country, but they have plans to unveil additional models in the coming times. The delivery of the Tesla Model Y is anticipated to commence in early 2024.
The price of the Tesla Malaysia cars was also unveiled at the event. There are 3 different pricing for Tesla Model Y according to the different variants. The prices are as below:
- Tesla Model Y RWD – Price at RM199,000
- Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD – Price at RM246,000
- Tesla Model Y Performance AWD – Price at RM288,000

The Tesla Model Y RWD is the basic model Tesla is offering. It has a range of a maximum of 455 kilometres after being fully charged. In contrast, the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD has an extra 78 kilometres more distance the car can go after the battery is fully charred compared to the standard Tesla Y model.
The Tesla Model Y Performance AWD has a more sporty and fierce look, attracting younger buyers.

First Batch of Tesla Superchargers in Malaysia
Tesla plans to invest heavily in building a network of Supercharger fast-charging stations across key areas in Malaysia as part of its entry into the country. Initially, 10 sites were noted; however, as was mentioned in the Model Y introduction, this has been increased to 12. Tengku Zafrul, the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, has previously indicated that Tesla is required to set up a minimum of 50 Superchargers across Malaysia in the next three years. This mandate is a component of the Battery Electric Vehicle Global Leaders initiative established by his department.

The first of its Tesla Superchargers location in Malaysia stations has already been made public; it is situated in the Pavilion KL’s B1 underground parking lot and includes eight V3 Superchargers, each providing up to 250 kW of DC fast charging.
Based on the “Find Us” section of the website, the initial group of Tesla Superchargers in Malaysia will be set up in 10 distinct locations.

Tesla announced that they would collaborate with property developers like Gamuda, Sunway, MRCB, and Quill to gain more accurate information about the locations, with the last two being newly added to the existing list of locations.
What’s Tesla Supercharger
A Tesla Supercharger is an electric vehicle (EV) high-voltage direct current (DC) fast-charging station created by Tesla, Inc. In Malaysia, all Superchargers available are V3 Superchargers, capable of delivering up to 250 kW of charging power. With such charging capabilities, a Tesla Model 3 can add approximately 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes at these V3 Superchargers.
Cost of Using Tesla Supercharger
The Tesla supercharger price in Malaysia is RM0.25 per kWh. Consequently, charging a Tesla supercharger time for Model 3 from 20% to 80% takes an hour to complete and would cost approximately RM10
Tesla plans to establish additional Supercharger stations across Malaysia, significantly facilitating Tesla owners’ travel in their electric vehicles.
