Top 10 Cheap Hotels in Singapore That Cost Below S$200 For One Night (2024 Updated List)

As an avid traveller, if there is one thing I hate, it is spending money on unnecessary items.

Personally, accommodation sits extremely high on that list (and mineral water bottles!).

The reason is logical: I simply want to be outside to enjoy the culture and sight-see all the beautiful places Singapore offers.

On the other hand, I also really enjoy taking a break with a short staycation!

There’s nothing like spending your weekends doing nothing and exploring your own backyard!

Either way, I really do not want to compromise on cleanliness, comfort, or safety while travelling. So, it’s only appropriate that I look for the best budget deals that the Lion City has to offer.

Thanks to all the travelling around Singapore, I managed to round up 10 Cheap hotels that deliver great value for money.

I assure you don’t have to go through the pain of reading other reviews anymore!

If your goal is to roam the city and come back just to get a good hot shower and a cosy place to get a good night’s sleep, then do check out Heritage Collection in Chinatown.

They are a locally established boutique hotel chain and serviced apartments.

For under S$200 a night, you can get a decent 131 sqft room for 2 guests with a fully equipped kitchenette!

It is also equipped with all the modern needs, like Wi-Fi, TV, hair dryer, and more.

Having travelled quite a bit, my favourite part of the stay has to be the excellent service rendered, despite the fact that it is one of the cheapest hotels in Singapore.

Their WhatsApp Service works great, with someone consistently available to pick up any of my requests.

Heritage staff also stayed in constant contact with me to ensure that I was well taken care of! How sweet!

With it being in Chinatown, you have many options of eateries since it is pretty close (4 mins walk) to the Maxwell Hawker Centre and just opposite the Cross Street Exchange Mall (2 mins walk).

You will have the chance to have hawker-style Singaporean dishes or walk into the mall for a Japanese, Taiwanese, or even a cuppa.

Every part of this hotel is also well maintained and kept clean aside from your room.

Although they do not feature many common facilities, the entrance and areas leading up to your hotel are constantly cleaned, ensuring a smooth check-in.

It may not seem like Heritage is one of the cheapest hotels in Singapore.

I also love that all the information on their site matches what you get at the hotel—there’s nothing hidden here!

Another gem in the heart of the city is Hotel Mono.

In all honesty you will definitely wonder why Hotel Mono is even considered a cheap hotel in Singapore. Get ready to be greeted with a modern and chic hideaway as soon as you enter this hotel!

Boasting around 46 rooms, Hotel Mono offers single occupancy rooms and rooms big enough to accommodate five persons!

Enjoy amenities like high-speed Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, digital safe and other necessities in any room you would book.

I also love that, although it is a cheap hotel in Singapore, all the rooms in Hotel Mono feature custom King Koil pocketed spring beds to give you a good night’s sleep!

Probably my favourite part of Hotel Mono is how close it is to the cafes and restaurants! Within 3 minutes, you will have access to Chinatown Point mall, which adds to the culinary options nearby.

If nightlife is your thing, then a 15-minute walk from the hotel should take you to the Clarke Quay area, which is bustling with bars and restaurants.

Thanks to its location, MRT stations are also 2-3 minutes on foot should you want to explore somewhere further.

Generally, the hotel has been maintained well. The classic chic decor is tastefully done while remaining functional for guests. Perhaps the only point of improvement would be to offer softer pillows!

Overall, Hotel Mono matches in terms of value for money.

For anyone looking to explore Singapore in a central location, I would definitely recommend Hotel Mono.

Crowd-favourite and my favourite too, Hotel Gin is located in the heart of Singapore offering almost everything a budget-conscious traveller like you and me, everything we need!

This cheap hotel in Singapore is surrounded by wonderful attractions and shopping havens, making it a top choice for me.

For a budget of under S$200, what I love about their rooms is that they are thoughtfully arranged, maximising the space for your use. Of course standard amenities like free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and air conditioning.

Staff members are very friendly and helpful, which means you don’t really have to sniff out the good stuff around the hotel—just ask them!

They are more than willing to answer your questions. They are also very responsive and efficient, which is a rare sight in cheap hotels in Singapore.

When it comes to dining, I cannot blame the hotel for having limited options because most travellers like us would prefer to explore Singapore’s food anyway!

Thank god for its central location, which means you are within walking distance to so many delicious local foods.

All in all, I was simply blown away to have spent less than S$200 on the rooms here, especially because they were clean and functional. Above all, for a cheap hotel in Singapore, their staff is highly trained and welcoming, making my experience a notch better!

Geylang district may not be the most glamorous place to stay, but with wonderful access to public transportation and a ridiculous amount of local eateries within the area, a stay at the Ibis Budget Singapore Gold is almost a must!

I love that ibis is generally all about practicality, and this one deserves all the praise. Although the room is small and cosy, it uses the space intelligently. It also features enough modern amenities like Wi-Fi, TV, and air conditioning.

Perhaps the mattresses can be upgraded, but after a tiring day, all that matters is that you have a clean and comfortable place to rest, right?

As one of the cheap hotels in Singapore, Ibis has friendly and helpful staff. Check-in was fast and smooth, as they did not require anything out of the norm. They are also happy to assist with tips about the local area, so don’t be shy about asking!

Although a cheap hotel in Singapore, it does offer rooms with breakfast!

If eating in is not your cup of tea, there are many local cafes and restaurants within the vicinity for you to try.

I must say that their cleanliness is commendable. Although every part of this hotel does look budget, it’s definitely functional and ‘good enough’ for its prices.

The perfect mix of simplicity and affordability, Ibis is definitely worth the price to me specifically because it is clean, comfortable and offers great service despite being a cheap hotel in Singapore.

Definitely recommend this for those who want to avoid anything central that is overcrowded too!

It’s more accurate to categorise lyf Funan as a co-living space rather than just a hotel, but for less than S$200 a night, it is worth mentioning!

The space is built with a hybrid concept in mind where a co-living space is offered with hotel comforts and necessities. The wonderful part is that Lyf Funan is located right above a busy mall, Funan Mall.

Talk about convenience right?

The rooms are definitely compact, but I must say that they were designed to appeal to nomads’ needs.

Instead of having standard amenities like a TV, Lyf’s room includes a desk that you can use for work or use the co-working space in the common area.

Honestly, it’s a bang for your buck because there might not be any other cheap hotel in Singapore like Lyf Funan that comes with a social kitchen and a gym that can be used by its patrons.

Customer service is top-notch here. Everyone is hands-on, helpful and attentive. The place was also spotless, everywhere from common areas up to my room.

It was also a unique experience, getting to meet other fellow travellers thanks to the set up of lyf.

While some might consider it a con, since lyf Funan does not come with a restaurant, I think they don’t need it.

You can walk through the Funan Mall a few floors to find the most scrumptious local meals. While the mall closes at 10 pm, other eateries in the area are open until late.

I did not expect to find something really fun at this cost, in all honesty. If being able to work and access a mall is important to you, then this is the space to be in. It offers unbeatable convenience at unbeatable prices, for sure!

Another surprising hotel to be categorised as one of the cheap hotels in Singapore, Beverly Hotel Elements is an affordable and cosy space that is very welcoming.

There are greeneries within the hotel and plenty of sunlight in every room and vicinity of the hotel!

The rooms are pretty small but designed with functionality in mind and have enough space for you to store your luggage and move around swiftly.

All rooms come with the standard amenities like Minibar, WiFi, Air-conditioning, and In-room safety.

Customer service here is great.

What I love is that not only are they friendly and attentive, but the hotel has gone above and beyond to make sure that every floor is equipped with air purifiers in the corridor to maintain clean air quality, as well as a water filler, which means even more savings on all your unnecessary water bottle purchases!

Now I did think that this hotel is located a little away from central Singapore, but the convenience of finding food for example is still pretty similar.

Step out and within 3 3-minute walk you have a handful of seafood restaurants, a smokehouse and many other convenience stores and supermarkets which are accessible.

The hotel is also well connected to public transportation, which means within 30 minutes, you can travel to see the Merlion Statue or head over to their famous version of Little India in just 20 minutes.

While I would love to be in central Singapore, every once in a while, this is a great option to explore a different side of the city and avoid the bustling centre.

Just 100m away from former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew’s home is the Lloyd’s Inn, a 34-room boutique hotel for those of you who crave minimal and functional designed spaces.

Trust me when I say that Llyod’s Inn is nothing short of a villa vibe, so get ready to be truly surprised, although you have booked yourself in a standard room. The rooms are clean and very green.

It also has all the necessities that one might need, like a hair dryer, and safe and free Wi-Fi.

Five stars to the customer service team here who went above and beyond when I needed a universal adapter.

They were very hands on and quick to provide solutions to anything you might need. We got all our information from the friendly receptionists, especially on where to get some good local Singaporean food.

Now if you’re really hungry, pop on to their adjacent little cafe, better known as kopitiam in Singapore, Killiney, which is just 5 minutes away.

On the same street, you will find cafes and restaurants serving local cuisine, or alternatively, just catch the bus to head downtown for some of the best hawker centres in Singapore.

I cannot stress how this cheap hotel in Singapore is truly worth your visit.

Not only is it perfect for a short relaxing getaway thanks to its minimalist design and a cute pool, Lloyd’s Inn is also truly affordable!

Beat the heat in Singapore by staying at the Vibe Hotel, which offers a beautiful swimming pool for guests like you to wind down after a sunny adventure on the streets. Both affordable and comfortable, Vibe Hotel is located in the residential enclave of Orchard Road.

While not overly spacious, the layout maximised the available space efficiently.

Essential amenities like Wi-Fi, a TV, and air conditioning are available in the room.

But what was surprising for a cheap hotel in Singapore is that they have a 1.75-m-deep swimming pool, a fully functional gym, and a little bar for coffee in the morning and cocktails at night.

This hotel’s staff members were very accommodating and helpful during my early check-in process with them.

Not only that, they also received several young children by handing out balloons to them. What a wonderful sight to be seen!

While they have an in-house restaurant called Roos, I urge you to step out and try the local Singaporean cuisine. You can walk for 7 minutes to many different cafes and restaurants along Scott’s Road!

I truly loved staying at the Vibe Hotel. Although it is a cheap hotel in Singapore, it feels almost like a full-service hotel, where you can stretch your dollars a long way!

Get a great bang for your buck at V Hotel Bencoolen, located in the centre of Singapore. With its central location, modern design, and affordable rates, Hotel Bencoolen is a great choice for budget-conscious travellers.

The rooms at V Hotel Bencoolen came as a surprise mostly because although the size was pretty compact, with a comfortable bed the room had all basic amenities like air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and TV for entertainment.

I also appreciate the quick and swift services rendered by the staff at this hotel. Although it is one of the cheap hotels in Singapore, their staff are well trained, attentive and prompt.

Check in experience was very smooth, and in fact, I was upgraded as the rooms that I had initially booked were unavailable.

A small gesture like this is rare for an affordable hotel!

Food options were available in house however, I opted not to have them as they lacked options.

On the other hand, there were a handful of cafes around the block for your early morning cuppa, or if you fancy a local breakfast, you can simply walk around for some toast and local coffee.

All in all, staying at V Hotel Bencoolen was pretty comfortable for the amount that we paid. If your aim is to go around Singapore, shop and eat local cuisines, spending an affordable night here is definitely recommended!

Recently renovated gem, Furama Riverfront is one of the cheap hotels in Singapore that you can opt for when holidaying here.

Having undergone a rather futuristic and colourful renovation in 2021, all the rooms are brightly lit with wonderful colours, which makes this place even more interesting.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with their rooms. Although the more basic ones are pretty compact, they provide enough amenities for those who are on a tight budget.

That said, if you do have the means, you should definitely upgrade to one of their tropical rooms, which are spacious and open up to a lot of greenery from the outside through the windows.

Loved the energy of the staff here, too!

They were cheerful and helpful in ensuring we had everything we needed for the stay. They were also extremely proactive, offering tips on where to go and what to see.

The rooms and common areas were also kept exceptionally clean.

If you’d like to dine in, there are options available for breakfast and other meal times. However, options are limited. You could explore out of the hotel to grab a bite or easily jump on the train which is only 3 minutes away to get to central Singapore and try the local cuisines.

At the end of the day, I would recommend Furama Riverfront to anyone visiting. All the amenities provided, including the cleanliness, and staff professionalism, are truly outstanding for a hotel that you pay less than S$200 for!

Conclusion

You may come across plenty of cheap hotels in Singapore, but in this guide, I have basically narrowed down to my personal favourites based on a few key pointers.

Personally, I would pick Lyf Funan as my go-to place as it allows me to catch up on work while on holiday.

Should I need to jump into a meeting, they are already well-equipped with a co-working space that is not confined to my room. It’s like a 2-in-1 hybrid space.

But if I don’t need to prioritise work during a vacation, then I would choose Hotel Gin Bugis as my second option.

Their cleanliness and central location are super attractive to me, as I often spend time touring around and want to come back to a clean and comfortable place. Needless to say, it is also pocket-friendly!

Options are plenty, but make sure you pick the right one!
