Aside from being a famous tourist spot, Haji Lane also houses many top-tier restaurants serving some of the best Haji Lane food you can find.
While some might be packed with tourists, the others are actually hidden gems known only to the locals.
Table of Contents
Good Luck Beerhouse
Open daily: 12.00 PM – 12.00 AM
Don’t be fooled by its name. Good Luck Beerhouse has all the local favs and beers you can enjoy under one roof.
The menu has options for dim sum and other wonderful Asian fusion bites, perfectly paired with cocktails and craft beers!
Try their Nanyang stout for something refreshing and their crab roe siew mai!
Mamacitas
Open daily : 9.00 AM – 12.00 AM
Get scrumptious Costa Rican food right on the island from Mamacitas! You won’t miss this bright green establishment on the lane. Staying true to Costa Rican roots, the owner/chef cooks up a storm for anyone willing to give it a shot!
We recommend you try their signature Chalupas (boat-shaped corn tortilla or flatbread with savoury filling), or to share with a big group, go for their platos surtido which is a platter filled with fried meat stew, vegetable stew, and meat like beef, chicken or lamb.
The Halal Corner
Open daily: 11.30 AM – 9.30 PM
For those seeking halal food at Haji Lane Singapore, this should be your go-to! Not only are they affordable, but the food options and generous portions will surprise you!
My favourite here was their Carbonara Mr John, a fusion version of the classic roti john and their Samyang Carbonara!
After a hearty meal, wash all this creaminess down with their Tropical Bandung Rosary!
Afterwit
Open daily: 12.00 PM – 10.00 PM
Are you feeling loco for tacos? Afterwit Bar de Burrito serves up some fresh tacos and burritos with a gorgeous side of guacamole, and you will be transported straight to Mexico!
While many patrons’ go-to is always the beef chorizo burrito, we love their octopus taco, which is filled with freshly grilled squid and a generous dollop of guacamole! Many other meat options are available, too!
Blanco Court Prawn Mee
Daily, except for Tuesday: 7.30 AM – 4.00 PM
If you’re looking for something a little local, then head to Blanco Court Prawn Mee right away! Dating back to 1928, this kopitiam-style shop has been dishing out bowls of scrumptious prawn noodles with pork ribs or jumbo prawns—your pick!
Now run by their fourth-generation owner, you must also try their ngoh hiang fritters, which will elevate any meal!
Habibi-san
Tue – Sun: 5.30 PM – 10.30 PM
Have you ever wondered what a fusion of Middle Eastern and Japanese cuisine would turn out? DELICIOUS! And Habibi-san offers just that!
My personal favourites are their fusion Babaganoush and their seaweed chicken tsukune, shawarma with a twist. For those looking for something extra, try their Omakase experience. You do need to have at least two people for this experience, though, so plan ahead!
Piedra Negra
Open daily: 12.00 PM – 12.00 AM
Perfect for larger groups, Piedra Nagra is often crowded, thanks to their colourfully decorated exterior, making it one of the more famous restaurants at Haji Lane.
Portions are generous, so we suggest going for loaded Nachos or Enchiladas that you can easily share with your group. Make sure you get their fresh guac, which is made right at your table by their friendly staff!
Talk about putting on a show!
Pita Bakery
Open daily: 9.00 AM – 9.30 PM
Consider this the best pita bread you’ll ever have in Singapore! Pita Bakery has been passing down its secret recipe for centuries, and they indeed have perfected it!
You will find freshly baked pita bread paired with hummus, tahini or falafel. You can also get a whole platter to make a pita sandwich. We heard that they sometimes run out in the evening, so make sure you get there early!
Prince Coffee House
Open daily, except for Tuesday: 11:00 AM – 8:30 PM
Named after a now-defunct cinema in the 70s, Prince Coffee House has served western Hainanese cuisine for the last 45 years!
Order the classics here—you’ll never go wrong with them—get the pork chop, salmon steak, or oxtail stew.
This place has long been getting notable visits from the former Singaporean Prime Minister, the First Lady, and numerous judges and ministers. That should say something!
Kulon
Tues – Fri, 11.30 AM – 3.30 PM, 5.30 PM – 9.30 PM
Sat-Sun, 11.30 AM – 9.30 PM
Kulon was once just a stall at Singapore Polytechnic before moving to Haji Lane. This halal eatery, run by a mother and son pair from Java, Indonesia, brings you the best street food from Indonesian warungs like bakmi.
We recommend you try their Bakmi Komplit. This bowl of flavourful noodles is topped with all their wonderful toppings, which include diced chicken, bakso beef balls, eggs in soy sauce (telur kecap), fried kulit pangs, and blanched bok choy.
