Microsoft has introduced several new features to its AI assistant, Copilot, aiming to provide a more user-friendly and intuitive experience. In a recent blog post, the tech giant detailed updates that enable Copilot to interact in more human-like ways, offering information, encouragement, feedback, and advice. These advancements include the addition of voice and vision capabilities, making Copilot a more versatile and natural tool to engage with.

Key Features in the Latest Copilot Update
Copilot Voice:
One of the most significant changes is the introduction of Copilot Voice, allowing users to interact with the AI assistant through speech. This feature offers a more personal, conversational experience, akin to talking with a companion. Users can ask questions, share thoughts, or request feedback using natural language.
Copilot Voice includes four voice options, letting users customize their AI interaction. Initially available in English-speaking regions like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Microsoft plans to expand this feature to other languages and regions soon.
Copilot Vision:
Another major update is Copilot Vision, which allows the AI to “see” what users see on their screens. This feature enables Copilot to interpret text and images, offering real-time suggestions and feedback. For example, if a user is shopping for furniture online, Copilot Vision can provide color scheme ideas, product suggestions, and even help visualize how items would fit in their space.
Initially, Copilot Vision will be available to a limited number of Copilot Pro subscribers in the United States as part of Copilot Labs, where experimental features are tested. Microsoft plans to expand access in the near future.
Copilot Integration with Microsoft Edge:
Copilot is now integrated directly into the Microsoft Edge browser, offering a seamless browsing experience. By typing @copilot in the address bar, users can access Copilot’s abilities to answer questions, summarize web pages, or rewrite sentences without leaving their current task.
This integration is expected to enhance Edge’s user experience and potentially boost its market share, which currently stands at 5.24%, according to Statcounter.
Additional Updates to Copilot
Several other impactful features have also been added to Copilot, enhancing its usability:
- Think Deeper: This feature allows Copilot to handle more complex queries by providing step-by-step answers, ideal for users who need to compare options or make informed decisions.
- Copilot Daily: Starting the day with personalized updates, Copilot Daily offers information on news, weather, and upcoming tasks in a chosen voice. Microsoft has partnered with reputable news outlets such as Reuters, USA TODAY Network, and the Financial Times to ensure the accuracy of the information delivered.
- Personalized Discover and Copilot Labs: These experimental features offer users a chance to explore Copilot’s capabilities and receive tailored recommendations based on their interactions with other Microsoft services.
Privacy and Security
Microsoft has emphasized the importance of privacy and security with these new features. Interactions involving Copilot Vision are opt-in, and data from these sessions is not stored or used for further training. Once a session ends, all information is permanently deleted, ensuring users’ privacy remains a top priority.
Gradual Rollout Across Platforms
The new and improved Copilot is gradually being rolled out across iOS, Android, and Windows platforms, marking a significant leap in AI-powered assistance.
