As Langkawi continues attracting visitors seeking a taste of this Malaysian paradise, the dilemma is wondering which experiences are worth your time, money and effort.
I have explored the nooks and crannies of Langkawi along with my fellow travel buddies. I understand how challenging it is to distinguish between the exceptional and the mundane.
So, with my firsthand experiences, this guide is a reliable compass that guides you to the 15 most entertaining things to do in Langkawi.
1. Walk in the clouds at Langkawi SkyBridge
Visiting the Langkawi SkyBridge is one of the greatest things to do in Langkawi. I had an incredible experience at this World’s Longest Free Span and Curved Bridge.
I stood at a breathtaking height of around 661 meters between two majestic mountains. The bridge stretches up to 125 meters, with some see-through sections that got my heart racing as I saw the world below me.
To get here, I took a Grab to avoid parking issues. Then I hopped on the Langkawi SkyCab, which was the only way to get to the SkyBridge.
When I arrived at the Sky Bridge, I was treated to breathtaking views of the rainforest, the panoramic sea, and the stunning Telaga Tujuh waterfalls. You will be genuinely amazed by what you see.
This place is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and adventurers like me.
If you want to take beautiful photos, come around noon when there isn’t much fog or clouds. However, come in the morning if you’d like to get some cool and fresh morning air.
The fun doesn’t end there; you can shop at the stalls for souvenirs, toys, drinks, and snacks.
This bridge is definitely one of the best places to visit in Langkawi.

Tips: The SkyBridge can only hold 200 people at a time. So, early morning is the ideal time to visit this bridge because mornings are usually less crowded, while evenings normally are.
2. Get surrounded by sharks at Underwater World Langkawi
Visiting Underwater World Langkawi (UWL) is another one of the best things to do in Langkawi. The place is massive and considered one of Southeast Asia’s largest marine and freshwater aquariums.
It is also the ‘Largest Aquarium in Malaysia,’ according to the Malaysian Book of Records. Personally, this is one of the best places to visit in Langkawi, and I can see why it attracts so many visitors.
I noticed that there are themed sections. Among them are the Tropical Rainforest, Temperate World, and Sub-Antarctic Climate to fit in over 4000 fascinating animals and aquatic life forms.
My favourite sections are the Venomous & Poisonous Section, the Tunnel Tank, the Hexagonal Tank, the Temperate Section, and the Sub-Antarctic Section.
- Venomous & Poisonous Section: I watched the deadly side of seemingly peaceful Moray Eels and Lionfish.
- Tunnel Tank: I was inside a 15-meter tunnel while being surrounded by giant stingrays, giant trevally, and other creatures.
- Hexagonal Tank: I explored a “Sunken Ship”-themed tank with Black Tip and White Tip Sharks.
- Temperate Section: I was inside an 8-meter tunnel and I saw the South American Fur Seals and African Penguins in their native-like habitat.
- Sub-Antarctic Section: I saw Rockhopper Penguins jumping from rock to rock here. So adorable!

3. Pet cute otters at Langkawi Wildlife Park
If you like animals, especially cute ones, going to the Langkawi Wildlife Park is one of the most exciting things to do in Langkawi. It is Asia’s first fully covered wildlife park to protect you from hot and rainy weather.
What sets this place apart from normal zoos is that most animals roam freely and are not stuck in cages. This park is designed to allow you to get up close to the animals.
This park also has four sections for different types of animals.
Some of the animals I found in the park are blue and gold macaws, pink flamingos, raccoons, meerkats, monkeys, Fennec foxes and more, as there are more than 150 animal species.
The best part of my trip was that I managed to pet and feed the small-clawed otters and rabbits. They are really cute!
Besides getting up close to the animals, Langkawi Wildlife Park also has programs that introduce you to the animals, such as a hilarious animal talk show.
After all the fun, I went to their cafe to rest. I also bought some souvenirs for my friends and family in KL.
I really recommend bringing your kids here. It is one of the best places to visit in Langkawi.

4. Play a Wipeout-style obstacle race at Paradise 101
Paradise 101 is a private island day resort offering exciting outdoor water activities.
Unfortunately, you cannot stay here overnight, but you can explore the ocean on a jet ski or ride banana boats.
You can also sail the waters in a kayak or fly through the sky with a parasailing adventure.
I went there with my friends, and before we set foot on the island, we took a roundtrip boat from Telaga Harbour. It took around 5 minutes to arrive.
We decided to play a Wipeout-style obstacle race at Aqua Park because the jet ski and parasailing are out of our budget. It was exhausting — mostly from laughing — but also incredibly enjoyable.
Then, we spent the day on the cruise boat, catching glimpses of spinner dolphins and flying fish before relaxing at a nearby restaurant.
I can confidently say Paradise 101 is one of the best places to visit in Langkawi.

5. Satisfy your need for speed at Morac Adventure Park
If you’re looking for a high-speed adventure, you can enjoy go-karting at Morac Adventure Park. It is one of the best things you can do in Langkawi to satisfy your need for speed.
The track is open till night, so you can choose to race at day or night.
The track is also built to meet international standards and has been approved by MAM (Motorsport Association of Malaysia).
I am not a go-kart pro, but I know little about it. The kart that I drove was a Sodi SR4.
It is a modern kart that is suitable for casual use in both indoor and outdoor racing. The kart is lightweight but still easy to handle.
The gears are also automatic, with no complex skills to learn. You just sit and drive like you usually drive your car.

6. Escape reality at VR Universal
Another of the greatest things to do in Langkawi is escape into a fantasy world at VR Universal. It’s an epic VR park with 12 different interactive attractions organised into four themes.
You can test your racing skills at the Speed Zone and feel the chills down your spine at the Thrill Zone.
You can also become a warrior at the Beat Zone and become a fruit-slicing ninja at the Hype Zone.
I enjoy Fruit Ninja VR and the Kuda Kingdom game. Both gave me a sense of what it was like to be a ninja and a warrior on the battlefield.
I don’t like the So Scary VR because I hate jumpscares.
Remember to bring a tissue or a towel in case you sweat.

7. See Langkawi from above with a helicopter tour
After booking several years prior for this helicopter tour, my recent experience touring above Langkawi was amazing
Once airborne, the views were absolutely stunning, revealing the vibrant greens, clear waters, and sandy beaches that make Langkawi a tropical paradise.

8. Hike, swim and picnic at Durian Perangin Waterfall
Durian Perangin Waterfall is a multi-tiered waterfall. Just to tell you, the water doesn’t smell or taste like Durian at all.
The name comes from the tall durian trees growing in the waterfall’s forests. Durian Perangin Waterfall consists of 14 shallow tiers that are reachable through footpaths and bridges.
The highest level is reachable by a 200-meter-long steep staircase. I climbed it, and it was worth the effort.
I saw a gushing vertical stream and a huge flat rock surface to sit on. I took my time there to enjoy the fresh air and the serenity.
On my way down, a trail led me to a destination I never expected to find at the base of a mountain: the Malaysia Book Village. There are collections of new and used books, and I grabbed one to read during the picnic later.
You’d probably think it’s strange to find a small library in the middle of the mountains. So do I!
That alone makes me think that going to this waterfall is one of the best things to do in Langkawi.
Tips: Visit during the monsoon season, especially between September and October, when the water flow is at its highest. During the dry season, the water flow may not be satisfying.

9. Watch eagles catching their prey with Langkawi Island Hopping
Island hopping is also one of the most popular things to do in Langkawi.
You will hop From Pulau Langkawi to Pulau Dayang Bunting, Pulau Beras Basah and Pulau Singa Besar by boat.
The islands surrounding the main Langkawi island are known for their lush jungles, limestone formations and caves, and diverse wildlife that roams freely.
I can assure you that these 3 islands are among Langkawi’s best places to visit.
At Pulau Dayang Bunting, I swam in the cool freshwater lake.
When I was speaking with the tour guide, I discovered that there is a myth that if a woman is unable to conceive, swimming in the lake will bless her with fertility.
Even if you’re not looking for myths, the cool, clear waters provide a welcome escapade from the tropical heat.
Moving on to Pulau Beras Basah, a lovely location for taking photographs.
The island’s sand is soft and white, and the water is turquoise and clear. The clearness of the water allows you to see the aquatic creatures that live in it.
The next stop is Pulau Singa Besar. This is where you can get up close to eagles during a live eagle-watching and feeding session.
As we sailed through the open waters, eagles were flying over us. And, on occasion, they dove down to catch their prey, leaving us all in awe of the spectacular moment.

10. Become a tarzan at Skytrex Adventure Langkawi
SkyTrex Adventure Langkawi is another one of the best places to visit in Langkawi. Skytrex Adventure offers a tree-to-tree ‘sky-trekking’ experience.
Here, you can fly, swing, glide, and dangle over various aerial obstacles suspended across the forest.
There are three levels of difficulty, but only two are currently open: Little Legend for the beginner level and Island Extreme for the advanced level.
Little Legend focuses on easy and fun family activities, whereas Island Extreme is more of an intense physical test.
As far as I can tell, The Little Legend is all about having fun. So, it has shorter zip lines, fewer obstacles, and requires a low physical demand.
The Island Extreme focuses more on pushing one’s limits and overcoming fears. So, the courses are more difficult, with longer zip lines that demand a higher level of fitness.

11. End your day with a Langkawi Sunset Cruise
Langkawi Sunset Cruise should be on everyone’s to-do list of fun things to do in Langkawi.
During my recent trip, my friends and I had a movie-like three hours at the sea after a long day. We watched the evening change from bright orange to blue and black.
The breathtaking views of the sunset are undoubtedly the highlight of the cruise. Not just that, we get to enjoy a warm saltwater jacuzzi too.
After that, our stomachs are spoiled with a delicious dinner of fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, salads, and other dishes freshly prepared by the crew.
The dinner was a nice touch.
If you drink alcohol, a free-flowing bar with cocktails and mocktails is available. Please remember to drink responsibly as other groups are also on the cruise.

12. Explore Langkawi’s undersea at Pulau Payar Marine Park
Pulau Payar is one of the popular places to visit in Langkawi for snorkelling and scuba diving. You can get there by catamaran or speedboat.
I chose the Introductory Dive + Unlimited Snorkeling package, and the sight of the gorgeous turquoise-green water brightened my day.
During snorkelling, I saw coral, starfish, small whales, and colourful fish. Also, I saw a baby shark during the dive!
Don’t worry, an experienced diver will guide you, and they will always stay near you. So, it is safe.
Personally, it was worth the money and snorkelling and diving here is one of the best things to do in Langkawi.
I 100% recommend.

Dream Forest is a one-of-a-kind night walk attraction that takes you through a rainforest fantasy land.
This is where Langkawi’s mythical tales come to life with captivating lights, music, projection mapping, art installations, interactive activities, and narration.
The stories will be told: The Legend of Tasik Dayang Bunting, The Tale of Merong Mahawangsa, and The Giants of Langkawi.
To be honest, I didn’t have high expectations, but I was blown away from the moment the show began. The stories are well-narrated, and the decorations improve my understanding of them.
It was one of the fun things to do in Langkawi for both kids and adults to spend time together.
Aside from hearing stories, there’s a campfire in the middle of the forest. You can grill marshmallows and sausages there, which you can purchase nearby.

14. Spend a luxurious day at Tanjung Rhu Resort
If you want to experience living in a 5-star hotel without spending a lot of money, a day pass to Tanjung Rhu Resort is the answer. It is one of the best things to do in Langkawi.
I recently spent the day there. It was a very peaceful and beautiful location.
The private beach was quiet since I came during the off-peak season, so I took advantage by reading a book there.
Pools were also open. The water had a fresher taste and less chlorine.
The day pass also included food and beverage vouchers, so you wouldn’t have to leave the resort to find food. There are several restaurants and bars that serve Italian and Asian cuisine, as well as snacks and other items.

15. Feel at the top of the world at Gunung Raya
With a peak of 881 metres, Gunung Raya is Langkawi’s highest mountain. The drive up to the summit was scenic, and it is truly one of the most memorable things to do in Langkawi.
There are two ways to climb Gunung Raya: drive or trek.
We were trying to catch the sunset, so we drove instead. The drive was scenic and took only about 20-30 minutes.
It was a treat to feel the cool evening breeze on our faces. We saw many animals during our journey, such as eagles, great hornbills, monkeys, and birds.
Another option is to climb the 4,287 steps known as Tangga Helang Seribu Kenangan, or Thousand Memories Eagle Stairs.
If you have extra time and need a bit of exercise, go ahead and trail through; the stairs will take about 4-5 hours.
In either case, the reward is an endless panoramic view of Langkawi and the surrounding islands in the Andaman Sea.
