It’s a brand new year, so why not try something new and different to kick it off?

My motto this year is to try and learn new things and have new experiences. Whether it’s a new hobby like pottery or even a new sport, I’m giving it my 100%!

When a friend suggested we try horse riding, I was super excited. Although I thought it might be harder to find a horse riding spot in Malaysia, I was surprised to find plenty of options, even around KL.

That said, all good things are meant to be shared, so I put this article together so that you can check them out and try horse riding!

Located just an hour from KL centre, Algontory Stable is a new horse riding facility.

They provide different services, including classes for those who wish to learn horse riding rather than just going for a joyride.

The cool thing about Algontory Stable is that you can do other activities like horse feeding and archery. They also host exciting events like archery on horseback, so don’t miss their special events!

2. Kasavilla Stable

Kasavilla is another spot where you can go horse riding, especially for slightly more experienced people.

That said, they also cater to absolute beginners by offering joyrides. As with many other stables, you can also sign up for lessons guided by experienced horsemen.

The Kasavilla Trail is the city’s charm. For a trail ride, beginners and experienced riders can select respective packages.

You get to enjoy some smaller pets roaming around and the lush greenery surrounding this stable. The calm and peaceful environment is spot on for beginners who are nervous, too!

It’s also perfect to bring children since they have ponies available for joyride sessions.

4. Rubinga Equestrian Park

A more famous spot amongst those who ride frequently is the Rubinga Equestrian Park in Kajang.

Rubinga is famous for being well-maintained and stressing the importance of safety while riding.

Often frequented by serious riders and beginners, Rubinga offers joyrides, lessons, and other activities like rabbit feeding and bird watching. They also offer horseback archery programs for adults and children alike.

5. Denai Alam Recreational Club (DARC)

One of the biggest riding clubs in Malaysia is the Denai Alam Recreation Club. It is located in Shah Alam and is easily accessible to anyone around KL and Selangor.

It is common to see many riders practising at this stable. This club offers joyrides for first-time riders and lessons for those who want to ride seriously.

What is remarkable about DARC is the multiple events that take place at their club. Some fun events include Fancy Dress Show Jumping, where participants dress in their most stylish outfits and ride their horses.

You can go for joyrides here or opt for their lessons conducted every morning and evening. There are also options to buy carrot sticks for the horses and feed them!

Enjoyable trail rides are offered here for advanced riders. One new one is the Outride at Sungai Batangsi. However, you must be able to ride independently.

7. Rimba Riding Club

If you’d rather pick a family-friendly horse riding place, then Rimba Riding Club is a great spot!

Located at Hulu Langat, this stable is surrounded by lush greenery, which creates a peaceful vibe when horse riding.

They offer joyrides to all visitors and lessons for those wanting to master the horse riding craft and nature trails. It is also a perfect place to spend school holidays as they offer programs that include archery, horse riding, colouring activities and many more.

For slightly older kids, the club offers introductory horse management courses that will teach them how to care for the horse, including showering and feeding it.

8. Putrajaya Equestrian Park

Located at Taman Puncak Selatan, near PICC, is Putrajaya’s world-class equestrian centre known as Putrajaya Equestrian Park.

With over 70 acres of parkland, the centre offers various equestrian facilities and services, including public riding, competitions, stable tours, riding lessons, and more.

Putrajaya Equestrian Park has also organised many tournament-based events, which explains why you will see many intermediate—and advanced-level riders around. But worry not—they also cater to first-timers by offering joy rides.

Other services include horse photoshoot rental and event space rental, including their lovely English cottage.

Choosing The Right Place For Horse Riding

If this is the first time you’ve tried out horse riding, then choosing a spot might be a little tricky. Here are some of the things to keep in mind when selecting a horse riding place :
